A small press for big questions

Elwood Kids is an independent publisher of nonfiction for children. We start from the questions kids actually ask at bedtime, in the car and at the dinner table, and we answer them the way a patient science teacher would: with a clear picture, plain words and a way to test it yourself.

Every fact is checked against sources such as NASA, NOAA, the Smithsonian, NIH, museums and universities, and the sources are listed in the book. Illustrations are created with the help of digital tools, then checked and labeled by hand.
